How to Build Muscle While Fasting

You may be wondering, "Is it still possible to build muscle while fasting. Definitely!! It's all about timing and the amount of stress you place on the body. Here are a few techniques to think about when working on building muscle while intermittent fasting.

Timing

Nutrition is key when building muscle. So you'll need to time your first meal around your workout. Try breaking your fast with a pre-workout meal high in carbs like a banana or a bowl of oatmeal. This meal that you'll need to plan your workout during the evening after you first meal. Make your post-workout meal something that has a carb/protein ratio of 3/1 eating.

Resistance

Our bodies respond to the demands placed upon them. Resistance training allow for our bodies to break down muscle in order to build bigger and stronger muscle. Progressively adding more tension to the body gives it even more reason to build muscle in order to adapt to stress placed upon it. Performing calisthenic exercises such as pushups, pull-ups, dips, squats, and sit-up gives your body the stress it needs in order to build those muscles.

Sleep
Sleep is probably the most important factor when it comes to building muscle. This is where the muscle growth happens. When we sleep we allow our muscles time to rest and heal from the stress we placed on it in our workout. As we sleep human-growth-hormones are released which allows for muscle regeneration and maintaining healthy human tissue.
